flight and memory.

"Tomodachi"

Oil on Raised Panel.

Through portraiture, I explore memory, service, and identity through a cinematic approach to realism shaped by lived aviation experience.

Painted from missions flown during Operation Tomodachi following the 3.11 disaster in Japan, the work examines quiet human presence within moments of consequence.

"Geisha"

Oil on Gold Raised Panel

The kaniji '夢 ' (impermanence) transforms the portrait beyond likeness into a meditation on aspiration, memory, and imagined identity.

Influenced by Japanese aesthetics and Western realism, the work explores the space between presence and symbolism.

"Enso"

Oil on Raised Panel.

Across my work, flight and transcendence evolve beyond literal aviation into psychological and symbolic forms.

Inspired by Zen brushwork and Japanese notions of impermanence, the portrait balances controlled realism with contemplative space.

gilded flight.

"Crane"

Oil on Gold Foil.

Flight remains a recurring language throughout my work. Influence by Japanese screen painting and aviation, the crane becomes both symbol and motion suspended within gold space.

"Kawasemi"

Acrylic on Gold Foil.

Bridging contemporary realism with Japanese visual tradition, Kawasemi explores observation, stillness, and precision through restrained composition and luminous surface.

"Sparrow"

Acrylic on Gold Foil.

The sparrow  represents quiet endurace, an ordinary subject elevated through attention rather than spectacle.

Rendered against gold foil, the work reflects recurring themes throughout my practice:  restraint, presence, and overlooked beauty.

"Swallow"

Acrylic on Gold Foil.

Long associated with migration, navigation, and return, the swallow becomes a symbol of movement and transcendence throughout the series.

Flight remains a recurring visual language across my work.
